200 Toyota Supra of all generations Meet at SpeedVegas for 10th annual Supras in Vegas event.

Our event calendar has slimmed down this year due to COVID-19; however, there are still a small handful of controlled events in certain areas of the country that have still continued as planned with extra precautions taken - Supras in Vegas being one of them.

What started out as a tiny gathering of 20 Supras ten years ago has evolved into the world's largest and most recognized Toyota Supra celebration. 2020 is the organization's 10th anniversary and despite limitations due to Coronavirus, the three-day retreat still drew 200 Supras of all generations, as well as a few surprise chassis on hand to shake things up (I'm told there were still several Supra owners that tried to register but organizers capped off the number of cars to ensure it wouldn't get out of control).

The Show & Shine (aka car show) returned to SpeedVegas, just a 15-minute cruise from the Las Vegas strip, while nearly 30 attending Supras came a day earlier to test their skills on the 1.5-mile, 12-turn road course of SpeedVegas. The highly anticipated dyno event took place at Insane Power and recorded six cars over 900whp, with the highest horsepower 2JZ-GTE belonging to Arizona's Michael Burrel and his Mk4 with a 1,416whp run.

Supras in Vegas continues to get bigger and better, which was encouraging to see despite the pandemic. As a spectator who was there firsthand, I will say that the event went very smoothly with attendees wearing face masks and crowd levels very much under control.

The quality of display cars was also up this year, obviously with many more Mk5/A90 examples to check out after a complete of years of being out on the market.

One thing that surprised me this year was the heat. Temperatures felt close to triple digits, which had me running for shade all day, but thankfully there were plenty of awnings and also the SpeedVegas facility to take cover under. It'll be a bit weird not returning to Las Vegas in a couple of weeks for SEMA, however it was still uplifting to see the car community band together to celebrate the Toyota Supra.

Special shoutouts go out to: Joshua Nepa—finally good to see both your Mk4 and A90 together in one place; TJ Hunt, always good to see you and the blue A90 widebody was looking sharp; Tom Nguyen, so glad you decided to bring the freshly Varis-equipped Supra out, a bummer it won't be debuted at SEMA but glad you decided to show it off to the Supra family; Miguel Jimenez, congrats again on another great event!
